Dance Instructor for Musical Theater Programs

The Stage School is currently seeking multiple Dance Instructor/Choreographers for several Fall programs. The programs are held in Park Ridge, IL and Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Park Ridge Programs

  • The Company - This is our signature musical theatre program for ages 6-16. The program meets for three hours on a Saturday. Students are divided into three age groups. Each group attends a one hour drama class, one hour singing class, and one hour dance class. Students rotate class on the hour with their age group.

Fall Term Dates:

September 25-December 4 (no class Nov 6)

`10:00am-1:00pm and 2:00pm-5:00pm

Location: Centennial Activity Center

100 S. Western Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068

The ideal candidate would be available for both the morning and afternoon session, however we will consider candidates who are only available for one or the other.

Strict capacity limits will be observed based on local Covid-19 recommendations. Currently classes are limited to 12 students per age group.

Our Company Fall team consists of a separate Singing Teacher, Dance Teacher, and Acting Teacher, along with our school Principal.

  • Musical Theatre Dance - In this class, students will work on a variety of dance styles used in musical theatre, including modern, jazz, hip hop, ballet, folk, plus others. The instructor will teach material from a variety of classic and contemporary Broadway musicals. Students will present a showcase on their work on the last class.

Fall Term Dates:

September 15-November 17

Wednesdays, 3:45pm-4:45pm (ages 5-8)

5:00pm-6:00pm (ages 9-14)

Oakbrook Terrace Programs

  • The Company - This is our signature musical theatre program for ages 6-16. The program meets for three hours on a Saturday. Students are divided into three age groups. ALL PROGRAMS

The Dance Instructor will be responsible for:

  • choreographing dance numbers
  • teaching choreography to dancers of many experience levels and preparing students to give their best performance
  • teaching general dance technique and movement skills through fun and engaging games and activities
  • working with the production team to ensure all class/production needs are addressed
  • assisting backstage during performance, and with set up and strike as needed.

Ideal teaching candidates will

  • be motivated, energetic, and organized
  • have a strong professional background in the performing arts
  • have experience teaching children ages 6-16
  • have experience in choreographing for and rehearsing musical theater
  • have a passion for teaching life skills to young people through the performing arts.

Covid-19 Safety Measures

  • Face masks will be required for all students and staff when indoors
  • Social distancing measures
  • Capacity limits with small student groups
  • Opportunities to hold portions of class outside as weather permits

Please note, the class locations are not easily accessible by public transportation. Reliable transportation is required.
