Ox-Bow School of Art and Artists’ Residency is a 111-year old summer art school and artists’ residency located in Saugatuck, Michigan whose kitchen has long been a backbone of its culture and operations. We are seeking an early to mid-career leader to assume the new position of Culinary Director to oversee the kitchen operations and expand its role in the school to contribute more strategically to its earned income and education goals.
This position is responsible for meeting overarching targets and goals, personnel management and program development for the Ox-Bow kitchen. The Culinary Director will work with the senior management team to develop kitchen-led programs that contribute to the overall mission of the organization, including education initiatives on and off-site or online, institutional partnerships and earned income contributions. They will oversee the general operations of the kitchen by establishing a kitchen staff reporting structure, hire chefs and other kitchen staff, and delegate tasks as needed. They will work closely with Campus Director in establishing safety protocol for kitchen operations as well as developing policies that pertain to running and maintaining a healthy and safe food services division. They will be responsible for kitchen program budget oversight, including setting and meeting earned income and partnership goals with the support of the senior management team. The Culinary Director will work with the head chef to establish menus for student, resident and event dining.
This position requires a commute to campus and is ideal for a candidate living within a 40-mile radius.
