Creative Writing and Songwriting Teaching Artists

Idea Box Integrated Arts is seeking both Lead and Support Teaching Artists with experience in teaching Songwriting, Creative Writing, Scriptwriting, Storytelling, Performance Poetry, and other related skills.

Idea Box Integrated Arts is an arts education non-profit with a focus on interdisciplinary, academically integrated programming. The ideal candidate has specialties in more than one visual or performing arts field.

Lead Teaching Artists start at $40/hr and receive paid planning time. Lead Teaching Artists create and coordinate curriculum plans/supply orders as well as serve as the primary residency contact. Lead Teaching Artists should have a minimum of 5 years experience teaching in an urban public school environment.

Support Teaching Artists start at $20/hr and are not required to create curriculum materials. Support Teaching Artists should have some prior experience teaching youth and an interest in developing their interdisciplinary work.

All Idea Box teaching artists receive ongoing paid Professional Development training.

Program dates/times/hours vary by residency, but average residency length is 10 weeks/30-40 hours. We have several residencies in development for February-May, 2022, and applicants will be hired and trained with a goal to begin working in classrooms after the new year.
