Crate Shop Technician - Icon Art Services

Icon Art Services, one ofChicago's oldest and most experienced art handling companies has an open position for a Crate Shop Technician. The potential candidate would be responsible for construction and packing of custom crates for fine art objects and artifacts. Other responsibilities include the ability to follow shop safety guidelines and perform basic shop and tool maintenance. This job requires long periods of standing, lifting large sheets of plywood, and working with tools that create dust. This is full time position 30-40 hours a week (M-F) depending on workload. Occasional overtime hours may be requested depending on specific projects. After initial probationary period Icon offers a group health insurance benefit, 401k company match and paid time off.

Qualifications:

• Fine art background with art handling/preparator experience preferred
• Previous woodworking experience required
• General knowledge of stationary power/pneumatic tool operation, including table saw, radial arm saw, and air-powered stapler
• Ability to read production designs and follow cut-sheets
• Knowledge of safe and proper handling procedures while wrapping and packing art objects
• Ability to lift 70 lbs
