Cooking/ Nutrition Instructor

The Cooking Instructor is responsible for teaching students how to make easy and healthy recipes in an educational and fun way. In addition, the cooking instructor will be responsible for educating the students on the health benefits of the ingredients and about healthy living from the information provided by Robin Goldberg. The Cooking Instructor will ensure the highest quality learning experience for Wellness for Everyone students and support each child holistically. The Cooking Instructor will support the Wellness for Everyone philosophy and community and help facilitate community and family involvement.

Hours for this position will be up to approximately 2-10 hours per week.

Position Elements:

As a Wellness for Everyone Cooking Instructor, responsibilities include
(but are not limited to):

Help to create a shared curriculum of easy and healthy recipes to teach the students cooking skills and nutritional information about healthy living
Create a dynamic culture inspired by the ideals and philosophies of Wellness for Everyone
Instructing a weekly cooking classes consisting of up to 15 elementary school students
Preparation and communication with Robin Goldberg, the Program
Manager, school staff and Wellness for Everyone staff
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required;
Strong knowledge and interest in the basics of cooking and nutrition
Experience teaching in Chicago Public Schools
Experience working with children from diverse ethnic and economic
backgrounds; experience working in underserved communities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work
effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
Car for transportation to sites is encouraged
