Weinberg/Newton Gallery is a non-commercial gallery with a mission to collaborate with nonprofit organizations and artists to educate and engage the public on social justice issues. We are seeking an individual who has a passion for our mission, is creative, organized, and has expert communication skills to join our team as Communications Coordinator.
The Communications Coordinator will strategize and implement outreach efforts and external communications for the gallery. They will serve as a content creator, flexible writer, copyeditor, and proofreader for communications channels. They will manage initiatives related to digital communications, social media, press relations, and marketing, working to creatively promote the gallery’s exhibitions, educational and public programs, special events and initiatives, while ensuring consistent messaging and positioning of the gallery across all platforms.
The ideal candidate is a poised, collaborative, and creative individual with superior project management and communication skills who is eager to learn and grow with the gallery. They will have a passion for engaging audiences with current social justice issues and contemporary art via print and electronic media. Writing samples, especially those related to the arts and/or social justice issues in Chicago, are required.
