Co-producer for disability-centric musical audio drama
Transplant -- a radically different new musical -- is seeking a co-producer to help us grow our stage musical into an audio drama series. Transplant is an original musical conceived and written by a Chicago-based team of theatre artists. Our mission is to foreground the world of people with disabilities, using adaptive and inclusive casting, design, and direction.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to pivot from a stage production to an audio-only format. However, we are excited to embrace this new form of storytelling and adapt our content to suit the unique qualities of audio drama. We are seeking an experienced co-producer / audio engineer to manage and guide this project. Responsibilities will include budget and timeline support, project management, and building/ leading a small team of musical and audio specialists.
We are seeking someone who has a strong track record of producing successful musical and/or audio drama, as well as someone with interest and engagement in disability justice. Strong preference and priority will be given to people with disabilities. At this time, we are starting with a single pilot episode as a proof of concept, while we strategize a fuller set of episodes. We hope to find someone who will stick with the project throughout periods of production and ideation. Compensation will be on par with the rest of our team and is negotiable based on the overall budget and duration of the process/responsibilities. While we are a small, grassroots team, we are committed to fair pay for artists and technicians. (If you have questions about this, please feel free to ask.)
