OVERVIEW
The Metropolis School of the Performing Arts is seeking Choreographers for our upcoming Guys and Dolls JR, Frozen JR, and High School Musical JR summer performance camps with grades 4-8.

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre: The School of Performing Arts (SOPA) at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre has been educating learners in the arts for over 15 years. Our Camp branch focuses on creating fun, educational camp experiences for new and seasoned students alike. Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our Summer Performance Camps are a hybrid of traditional summer camps with theatre rehearsals and classroom activities. During each session, our campers learn new techniques in acting, music, and dance while putting together a full scale, quality show on our Metropolis stage! Camps are broken down by age group; Guys and Dolls JR, Frozen JR, and High School Musical JR campers are grades 4-8. Camp takes place daily between 9am-3:30pm, with some additional hours for production meetings and performances. Applicants may be contracted for 1 or more camp sessions, and employment will end once the contracted sessions are over. Employment opportunities for future sessions are possible. These are stipend positions.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend all camp days, production meetings, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.
- Collaborate with directing team to teach all necessary elements of the production within the given timeframe. This includes casting the show, creating daily schedules, teaching and cleaning of all relevant material, working one-on-one with students for solo work, and daily warmups. Staff will also lead daily classes with campers in their relevant field (acting, singing, or dancing).
- Coordinate with designers about any performance needs.
- Other duties may be assigned on a daily basis relevant to the position.
- Help to facilitate strike at the end of the run.


QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience directing musical theatre or similar projects
- Proficient dance skills and ability to develop and teach appropriate routines
- Prior experience or interest working with children.
- Highly organized, independent, and able to take directions.
- Provide own housing & transportation. All rehearsals take place at 111 W. Campbell St. in Arlington Heights, IL.
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 (including booster).

Guys and Dolls JR
Monday-Friday, June 6-24, 9:00am-3:30pm
Performances: Saturday, July 25, 12:00pm and 2:30pm

Frozen JR
Monday-Friday, July 5-22, 9:00am-3:30pm (no camp 7/4)
Performances: Saturday, July 23, 12:00pm and 2:30pm

High School Musical JR
Monday-Friday, July 25-August 12, 9:00am-3:30pm
Performances: Saturday, August 13, 12:00pm and 2:30pm

STIPEND
$1300-1350 depending on the camp session
