Center Director

The goal of this position is to expand the outreach and focus the mission of the KRC, with the idea of extending the services to a greater number of people, while expanding the donor base to insure successful future growth. We are looking for a creative go-getter who wants to grow the Center, and make it the marquee location for broadcasters and performers in Chicago

A minimum of 3 years’ experience for this position is desired. Candidates will preferably have experience in an arts or theater environment, but candidates with general experience with donor recruitment, and retention activities and special events in other industries will be considered. We will also consider candidates with a proven track record of achieving financial goals and developing productive and professional relationships with volunteers and support groups. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, as well as the ability to effectively manage and supervise staff. Grant-writing and/or fund-raising experience is a plus.

Director is expected to work with KRC Board and staff to coordinate and oversee an annual operating budget. An understanding of personal computers and programs including Word, Excel and internet-based software and utilities for both PC and Mac is required. Basic knowledge of video and audio equipment preferred.

Ideally, the Director will have some background working with audio and video equipment or be willing to learn. The Director will work with members on some minor technical issues and might be asked to help members with use of Center video and audio equipment, including training, auditions and virtual activities and events.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following essential functions:

Direct the day to day activities of the Center. Prepare an annual budget for board approval. Develop a comprehensive communications strategy for outreach to the entertainment and arts community. Direct the Center’s volunteer committee, which is responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of annual gifts. Apply for continuation of current grants and seek additional grant funding.
