Campaign Coordinator | Steppenwolf Theatre Company
Steppenwolf Theatre is in the midst of a $73 million capital campaign to expand and refresh its campus in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. The Campaign Coordinator is a versatile, key member of a high-level, compact team, working with senior leadership to manage and execute activities for the Building on Excellence capital campaign. Reporting to the Campaign Director, the Campaign Coordinator ’s responsibilities will relate to all aspects of the campaign, including donor and prospect strategy and management, communications and marketing, proposal writing and reporting, administrative functions, and event planning.

The ideal candidate will be supremely organized, highly motivated to meet daily deadlines and expand personal horizons, comfortable meeting new people and compelled to develop authentic relationships with prospects and donors, driven to nerd-out about project management and use the written word as a powerful tool of persuasion, energized by uncovering the most meaningful ways to connect to supporters’ values, and ready to say “yes” to the unexpected.
Qualified candidates need experience in project management and knowledge of fundraising. Experience working in donor relations and events is highly persuasive. Tessitura or other fundraising database experience is preferred. A college degree or the equivalent training/experience in administrative functions, project management, written communications, and team-based collaboration is a must. An affinity for theatre and knowledge of capital campaigns is a plus.
• Live and breathe donor-centricity, ensuring that leadership and team members have the information, materials, and support they need to nurture meaningful, long-term relationships with donors and prospects; participate regularly in strategy development for donors and fundraising goals
• Organize in detail campaign projects such as travel and events, communications materials and marketing strategies, stewardship and gift-giving, and prospect moves management
• Prepare agendas and materials as needed for campaign meetings, which include leadership; take minutes and ensure tasks are noted, assigned, and distributed
• Understand the prospect research process and work with other staff as needed to ensure correct data is tracked in Tessitura and ready for use in developing and executing strategies
• Manage the campaign proposal and reporting process for individuals, corporate entities, and foundations; provide supplemental materials and narratives for proposals and reports; organize the flow/storage of information and statistics as needed for proposals; and acknowledging gifts
• Manage the critically important pledge, agreement, and acknowledgement process for contributions and contribute to the realization of extraordinary “thank you’s”
• Maintain the donor list, naming opportunities portfolio, and other tracking mechanisms as needed; prepare reports as requested
• Ensure donor recognition expectations are met and, as much as possible, exceeded
• Manage the creation and maintenance of beautiful and effective campaign communications, such as brochures, appeals, video, web pages, invitations, newsletters, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality of prospect and donor information

Salary range: $32,000 - $38,000 (non-exempt) with excellent benefit package for full time employees, including medical, dental, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, vacation pay, paid sick time, personal days, Ventra transit benefit program, employee assistance program and 401(k) matching retirement program.
