Camp Counselor

Position: Camp Counselor

Location: Chicago, IL

Organization Description: FAME Center was established as a 501(c)(3) in 2018 with a mission to provide transformative

multi-disciplinary arts education to youth and adults in the Chicago-area. Founded on the belief that everyone should

have access and opportunity to experience the arts, FAME Center is dedicated to removing any barriers to receiving a

high-quality arts education.

Description of Position: FAME Center seeks enthusiastic camp counselors who enjoy working with children ages 5-10 to

support our multidisciplinary summer arts camp. A successful candidate will have a strong interest in multidisciplinary

art, education, and youth development.

Camp Dates and Hours:

Camp Orientation: Tuesday, May 23rd, 6:00-9:00pm

Monday-Thursday 8:45-4:15, Friday 8:45am-5:15pm

Session 1: June 12-June 16, 2023

Session 2: June 19-June 23, 2023

Session 3: July 10-July 14, 2023

Session 4: July 17- July 21, 2023

Session 5: July 24- July 28, 2023

Session 6: July 31- August 4, 2023

Pending enrollment, counselors will rotate assisting with before and after care throughout camp.

Before Care: 8:00am-9:00am

After Care: 4:00pm-5:00pm

Duties:

● Supervise campers during classes, lunch and free time

● Assist with camp drop-off and pick-up

● Facilitate camp activities, crafts, and group art projects

● Be an integral part of the camper discipline system, working with individual campers, helping staff through

problems and being a general resource

● Promote and support positive and meaningful interactions between campers

● Assist in total camp cleanup at the end of each session

● Report to FAME Center leadership any concerns about a camper’s health, safety, or well-being

● Document camp activities through photo and video

● Report any incidents to FAME Center staff

● Additional duties as assigned

● Assist with Before and After Care as needed

Qualifications:

● High School diploma required

● College experience preferred

● Experience in music, visual or digital art, or drama preferred

● Previous camp counselor experience

● Experience working with youth in grades 1-4

● Ability to think critically, creatively and problem solve

Salary: $3,172.50 overall stipend
