The Box Office Assistant carries out ticket sales and other transactions in person and by phone, is a point of reference for inquiries, and provides exceptional customer service. This position requires a flexible schedule since evening and weekend hours are required. Hours include some days Monday–Friday with additional evenings and weekends on a rotating basis. The Box Office is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and one hour prior to performances.
Ongoing on-call position. Hours vary per week. Evening and weekend work is required. This individual reports to the Manager of Theater Operations and Services.
Box Office Assistants are responsible for selling tickets, subscriptions, memberships, gift certificates, and donations during both daily office hours, and night and weekend performancesDevelop a working knowledge of the theaters layout, seating sections, and pricesKeep up-to-date on all Fine and Performing Arts Centers events, and assist and inform patrons with upcoming events both in person and over the phoneProvide excellent high quality customer service, and trouble shoot customer issues and ticketing related questions in a professional mannerKeep accurate records of all cash, check, and credit/debit card payments, balance individual cash drawer, and complete accounting reports when requiredFiling, mailings, data entry, telephone calls, copying, cash handling, and general administrative tasks as needed to assist staff membersResponding to patron email inquiriesCommunicate scheduling with volunteer ushersCommunicate with house manager on accessible seating, ticket sales count, VIP seating, etc.Other duties as assigned by Manager of Theater Operations and ServicesGeneral Expectations:

High School diploma2+ years of customer service and cash handling experienceWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel, etc.), Outlook email and internet; familiarity with ticketing software a plusMotivated, self-directed; strong administrative and communication skills.Ability to work both as part of a team and independentlyEnthusiasm and passion for the artsAvailable to work evenings and weekends.Good verbal and written communication skillsDay shifts aren’t always available. Moraine Valley Community College is the home of the Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), which offers an array of music, dance, theater, and art for all ages.
