"Activism Now" Camera Operator

JOB SUMMARY: A Soft Cage Films camera operator will be dispatched to document protests, uprisings, and other community organizing events. Camera operators shoot b-roll and on-site interviews that are consistent with our values. Black filmmakers, filmmakers of color, women, non-binary folks, and LGBTQIA+ folks are prioritized


1. Communicate in a timely manner with the Production Coordinator.

2. Due to the sensitive and nuanced nature of creating video content depicting the efforts of local activists, camera operators must support and follow the instructions of the event organizers, particularly activists of color.

3. Camera operators should continuously monitor surroundings and respond to developing situations in ways that are safe and responsible.

4. Camera operators should shoot footage that reflects the energy and intentions of the particular event being depicted.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, and Training):

Camera operators should have a passion for the company’s mission and values

Knowledge of and experience with DSLR cameras, ENGs, or willing to provide own equipment

Time commitment: events are typically between 2-4 hours


$75 - Artist fees on each episode will be paid on a per-project basis

Transportation, PPE, and support staff will be provided for camera operators
