The theater’s artistic priorities include new play development (more than 150 world or American premieres), large scale musical theater works and reimagined classics. The Goodman is now accepting applications for the 2022 Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship. The submission deadline is November 17, 2021. This fellowship provides an early career artist with a $5,000 stipend, an opportunity to work as Assistant Director on a Goodman production, and the chance to become involved in the ongoing artistic life of the Goodman for a full season and beyond. Applicants must be Chicago-based directors who have directed at least two professional (i.e., non-academic) productions.

The submission deadline is November 17, 2021. Applicants should submit for consideration: a resume; a portfolio and/or selected reviews of previous work, if available; at least two letters of reference from theater professionals or educators familiar with the applicant's work; and a detailed statement of personal and artistic goals, with a focus on how the fellowship could help the applicant achieve those goals.
