Speak-Easy: A One Billion Rising Event Produced by Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble
More about the event:
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble is looking for storytellers of all varieties to share what freedom means to you. As part of the 2023 One Billion Rising Campaign, CDE is kicking off the new year with a come-as-you-are variety show based on the theme of freedom. This one-night-only performance aims to give performing artist (writers, dancers, musicians, etc) a platform to ask “what if we were truly free?” Each performer will have 5-7 minutes to perform their piece. The event will also feature pre and post-show live music and a curated silent raffle. Rehearsal time is limited, so pieces will likely not be altered once we begin in-person rehearsals. Half the proceeds from this event will be donated to Chicago Community Jail Support.
CDE will provide marketing through SHOUT media public relations, postcards/poster printing, and distribution, each group/artist will get two comp tickets to the run- equaling roughly a $1,000 in-kind per artist/group.
Performance: Saturday, 02/18, 7-9:30pm
