Puppies, pastel desserts, miniature anything—that’s cute. But there’s a dark side [ OwO ]. Cute things are things easily harmed. There is an inverse relationship between vulnerability and the impulse to care for, or crush. Shallow, easily dismissable, feminine, childish—these words are often synonymous with cute. This exhibition seeks art works that push the aesthetic boundaries of the adorable. Selected works will be incorporated into an immersive installation at Iowa City’s Public Space One.
Show us your cute.
