Open Call for Artists- Stories of Chicago: An Honest Look at Racism in Chicago
Exhibition Dates: 01/24/20, 01/25/20
ART + ACTIVISM: Examining the current socio-political climate, there is unrest and frustration that is driving an undercurrent for change; a need for more from our leadership, as well as from one another. Our community is continually evolving as more of us grow aware of our individual positions within society and attempt to express our truths. Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble has curated a series of performances; ART + ACTIVISM. That re-examines the socio-political landscape in Chicago and how art can better benefit the needs of the greater Chicago community.
The ART + ACTIVISM performance series is broken into four parts to disseminate a topic and inspire conversation. Those topics are women, race, queer identity, and immigration. Each performance throughout the series will feature an accompanying art exhibition. Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble is seeking visual art work for their second exhibition- Stories of Chicago: An Honest Look at Racism in Chicago.
Art works should correspond with the theme of each performance throughout the series of Art + Activism. Artist submissions should include: bio, two images of the artists work or a link to where work can be viewed, and a statement of proposed work for the show.
