Shape & Shadow: Group Exhibition
The Fargo Venue announces a call for entries for Shape & Shadow: Group Exhibition, juried by Katie Drum, April Startzel, and Ariel Reis, that will be exhibited October 13-31. Open to traditional and non-traditional mixed media artists. Cash prizes available.
Without the darkness, we do not know the light. Even the brightest lights cast the longest shadows. The Shape & Shadow: Group Exhibition invites artists to showcase works that explore our inner demons, mournful memories, and the irrational fears that haunt us. The things lurking in the night, hiding in shadow, or lying within the deepest corners of our mind- all representing some part of our psyche that is mysterious, macabre, mischievous, monstrous or even malevolent. They are the parts of our world tearing at the corners, howling at the moon, and gripping your throat while conjuring chaos. Those in the shadow may have a delusion of reality or see shapes forming from the ether- often the makings of madness. It is through the shadow that our true selves often reveal themselves. The theme of Shape & Shadow may be interpreted in various ways, which we encourage. Now accepting applications!

Entry Fee: $15 for 1-3 images, non-refundable
Entry Guidelines: There is a $15 entry fee for up to three (3) works. Entries are encouraged to be high resolution, comparable to 300 dpi as JPEG files. Images submitted and accepted will be used online and in show promotions. Please include the following information with each photo submitted: Name, Title, Media, Size, Year, Price.

About the Fargo Venue: Officially launched in August 2021, Fargo Venue is hosts art shows, live music, classes, events, and more in downtown DeKalb. The space is available for rent; a community canvas where the only limit is your imagination. The Fargo Venue’s goal is to create a safe, creative space where all members of the community feel welcome and inspired. The Fargo Venue is attached to Fargo Skatepark and the brain child of Fargo Skateboarding Queen Ariel Ries and managed by designer Emily Grobe.
Delivery of Artwork: All artwork must arrive completed, dry, wired and ready to hang or be installed, unless otherwise specified in your application. Shipped artwork must include a prepaid return shipping label. All accepted work, both shipped and dropped off, will be accepted between October 1-7 and must be at the Fargo Venue by October 7, 2023. Artwork must match your submission photo(s). The show runs October 13-31 with an opening reception on Friday, October 13, from 6-9 pm. Call for entries closes on Monday, September 4, and juried results will be sent out on September 8. No late entries will be accepted.
