SEMI ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION
Submissions via Submittable only.
We invite artists to submit their best works in any medium, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, etc. (with the exception of video and projection-based work). This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your talent, reach a new audience, and connect with fellow artists.
To be eligible for the exhibition, all artworks must be original, completed within the past three years, and not previously exhibited at OPAL and ready to hang.
JUDGE: Claire Barliant
Claire Barliant is a writer and artist who recently moved from Cambridge, MA, to Oak Park, IL. Her writing on art, architecture, and other subjects has appeared in several publications, including Apollo, Artforum, Art in America, East of Borneo, Icon, Metropolis, Modern Painters, No Tokens, and Triple Canopy.
From 2010 to 2013 Claire wrote short art reviews for the New Yorker’s “Goings On About Town" section. Claire has also contributed essays to several artist monographs and museum catalogues.
In 2014 Claire curated “As We Were Saying”, an exhibition at EFA Project Space, New York, about the return of identity politics in art, which was reviewed by Holland Cotter for the New York Times. Claire holds an MA in Curatorial Studies from Bard College, a BA in Comparative Literature from Smith College, and an MFA candidate in creative writing from Emerson College.

● The artwork you submit will be included if it meets the Call criteria.
● Deliver your work on the drop-off dates below. All media/mediums accepted (except for video for this exhibition).
● ARTWORK IS LIMITED IN SIZE TO (42”) IN THE LARGEST DIMENSION (including frame).
● Sculpture work (freestanding) can be up to 72” high but must be no more than 36” wide in the round.
● Limit of 3 submissions per artist.
● All work MUST be ready to hang!!! (ABSOLUTELY NO SAWTOOTH OR STRING HANGERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!)
* OPAL reserves the right to reject any accepted work that does not clearly represent or match the submission. * Incomplete submissions will not be considered. * Submission fees are non-refundable. * All shipped artwork received MUST include a prepaid shipping label for return of the work. OPAL will not ship work without this prepaid label.

Opening Reception: FRIDAY, OCT 13, 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Exhibition Closes: NOV 10
Recognition Awards for Exhibition:
1st place - $300
2nd place - $200
3rd place - $100
Submission fee is $55 for up to three images of work.
