Riverdale Creative Cultural Connections (RC3) Project

Architreasures and partners of the Riverdale Creative Cultural Connections (RC3) project are recruiting artists, designers, and cultural producers to support the development of spaces for healing and connection in Riverdale, and the production of artwork that will highlight the distinct Black heritage and community interests of Chicago's Far South Side.

The RC3 project cultivates opportunities for creative professionals, residents, and stakeholders to collectively transform neighborhood and community public spaces in Riverdale, while experiencing the changes that can be made–at the individual, social, and spatial levels–when people come together to support one another’s well-being.

Located at the southernmost edge of Chicago, the Riverdale community area has historic connections to the Underground Railroad and the founding of the environmental justice movement. Today, as part of Riverdale’s on-going renewal efforts, RC3 partners are working to transform and activate areas by the African American Heritage Water Trail, at Chicago's Finest Marina, a National Park Service Network to Freedom site, as well as other neighborhood locations through public art and cultural programs.

RC3 is currently seeking artist/ design/ cultural collaborators to 1) develop art, design, and programming concepts for identified neighborhood sites, and 2) participate in shaping the community engagement, artistic, and cultural change strategy for the project.

To be considered for these creative opportunities in the RC3, please complete the RC3 Project Open Call Survey by 12/14/22.

RC3 will invite individuals with aligned qualifications to develop project concepts on December 19th. Applicants will receive a $250 stipend for each completed project proposal and may submit up to 2 proposals per person. RC3 will accept proposal submissions between December 26, 2022 to January 31, 2023 or until proposal funds have been fully distributed.
