Chop Wood Carry Water - a low fi residency for thinkers, artist and collaborators. 

~The practice of collaborating with land continues~

This is not an art residency. We do not expect you to be an artist. We are interested in a larger
definition of what it means to think, make, build and collaborate with land, other humans and
living beings. We believe edges and categories of what it means to be creative and how we
live in this world are meant to be explored and that this is essential for a new coming together
within ourselves and between ourselves.

Conversation, moving, studying, walking, biking, kayaking, writing, reading, furniture making,
weaving, print making, performing, filming, painting, building, on-site installation, sculpture,
ceramics, animation, soil work, dancing, experimentation with and processing of land-based
materials have figured largely with past residents.

• Two small writing studios- includes writing table, chair and desk lamp
• + Second small kitchen (for overflow/separate groups)
• - cooking surface, small fridge, toaster oven, crockpot
• - cooking and serving/eating utensils
• - various herbs, spices and seasonings
• - table for 6
• + Two elevated call and response stages in prairie 8’ x 10’ and 4’ x 8’

+ New tools!

• - Small portable Ryobi table saw
• - Skutt electric kiln - #1027-3’

COST OF RESIDENCIES

7 days $60/day = $420

10 days $50/day = $500

14 days $45/day = $630

All residencies start on Sunday

7 and 14 day residencies end on Sunday

10 day residencies end on Tuesday

Accepted residents can invite guests to come up for 2 days for an extra fee and exchange for some kind of service i.e help with land-based work, etc.

A deposit of $100 will need to be paid upon acceptance to hold your spot by April 13, 2023 (SUMMER Session), Aug 16, 2023 (FALL Session)
