Open Call: On The Verge of Hope
We are accepting submissions of visual art for the show "On The Verge of Hope" for a community art show, showing at Gallery Wrightwood in Logan Square (located inside St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Logan Square).
We are interested in all mediums of art centering on themes of hope and despair. What does it mean to hold hope in a world like ours? What does it feel like when that hope is slipping away? How can we strengthen our hope and fight despair when our circumstances give us so many reasons not to? How can we find community and support in our despair?
Submit here: https://forms.gle/UTs1WFJekwBj...
There is no submission fee and you are welcome to submit multiple pieces.
We can most easily accept 2D and 3D visual art, but will accept proposals for other mediums (performance, time based, video, music, written, ect) and will discuss logistics if the fit is strong!
Casey VanderStel, the Artist-in-Residence at St. Luke's, is coordinating and curating this show. Please reach out to them if you have questions about this project! (caseyvstelstudio@gmail.com) Though the art show and program is hosted through and in a progressive Christian church, the artwork does not need to be pro-Christian, the show will not be explicitly centering the Christian faith, and we work to welcome all diverse voices and perspectives that amplify values of care and love.
Artists are not required to submit an artist statement with their images, but their application will be stronger with an artist statement that connects the piece to the show theme.
Artists can list their work available for sale, and the gallery takes 0% commission from any sales that occur. Details on the sale process will be provided after being accepted to the show.
