Open call for sculptors
Call for Artists: "Beyond Function: Clay and Fiber" at USF Art Gallery
The USF Art Gallery is now accepting applications from sculptors for an upcoming exhibition, Beyond Function: Clay and Fiber. This exhibition will explore the intersection of clay and fiber as both materials of tradition and mediums for innovative sculptural expression. We invite artists whose work incorporates clay, fiber, or a combination of both to submit their projects for consideration.
Eligibility:
- Open to artists working with clay, fiber, or mixed media that engages both materials.
- Preference will be given to sculptors whose practice includes sculpture, mixed media, and expanded media approaches.
- The work should challenge traditional uses of these materials and move beyond their functional origins, exploring new forms, conceptual depth, and artistic possibilities.
Exhibition Focus: The Beyond Function exhibition aims to highlight the transformative power of clay and fiber when used in contemporary art practice. The gallery is interested in work that pushes boundaries, elevating these materials from their utilitarian roots to a place of conceptual, emotional, or aesthetic exploration.
Submission Guidelines:
- Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration.
- Please include high-quality images of your work (with dimensions, media, and year of creation).
- A brief artist statement (max 300 words) that explains your process, materials, and conceptual intentions.
- A current CV or resume.
- Artist website.
Deadline for Submissions: March 17, 2025
Selected artists will have their work displayed at the USF Art Gallery.
