On the Subject of Grief: An Essay Writing Workshop

Where: Heirloom Books, 6239 N Clark St.

When: March 25th, 2 - 4 p.m.

Hosted by Heirloom Books, Led by Taylor Imel

On the Subject of Grief is a personal essay workshop designed to explore the questions, reactions, circular thoughts and the weight that grief brings on.

Grief is a common human phenomenon that has been written on in iterations since the beginning of time. What is grief? Where is grief? Can grief be explained? Has it been over-explained? What does our culture lend to grief, and how do we interact with grief when it inevitably comes upon us?

In this workshop, we will examine three readings published by writers on the subject of grief, followed by a group writing exercise and a guided writing prompt. There will be time at the end of the workshop for anyone who would like to share from what they have created (optional). By the end of the workshop, you'll have the bones for a new essay.

Follow the link to sign up.

Cost of attendance is $15 / person*, due upon arrival. Venmo or Cash options.

* Absolutely no one will be turned away for being unable to pay. I do not need a reason, just let me know ahead of time @ taylorkimel@gmail.com
