Mural on NEW Fitness Court in Woodstock, IL

The City of Woodstock is thrilled to announce a dynamic partnership with the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) to introduce a state-of-the-art Fitness Court, located within the City’s Emricson Park. This new addition is part of an extensive project to create an intergenerational inclusive playground designed to promote health, wellness, and community engagement among residents of all ages and abilities.

In a unique blend of art, culture, and fitness, the City of Woodstock’s Arts Commission is also excited to issue a Call for Artists. This initiative seeks talented artists to submit original artwork in a digital format with a nature theme, which will be featured on the outer wall of the Fitness Court. This collaboration aims to beautify the park while fostering local art and talent.

Project Highlights: The new intergenerational inclusive playground is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for community members of all ages. The Fitness Court element promotes physical activity and social interaction, for teens and adults, within the picturesque setting of Emricson Park.

Call for Artists: Artists are invited to submit their nature-themed original artwork in a digital format to be displayed on the Fitness Court’s exterior, integrating art into the fabric of this new community recreational space. The selected artist will receive a $5,000 grant, offering a fantastic opportunity to have their work showcased to the public. Additionally, the artist will collaborate with the NFC to adapt their artwork to fit the Fitness Court’s specifications.

Deadline: Artists are encouraged to submit their artwork by the deadline of UPDATED: May 8, 2024, at 5 PM.

How to Submit: Submission guidelines and further details are available in the attached document.

This initiative represents a significant investment in Woodstock’s community infrastructure, combining the benefits of physical fitness, outdoor enjoyment, and artistic expression. The City of Woodstock and the National Fitness Campaign invite local artists to contribute to this vibrant project and look forward to unveiling the Fitness Court at Emricson Park later this year in early fall 2024.
