Movement Matters Performance Series Call for Dance & Performance Artists

Movement Matters, investigating work at the intersection of dance, art, performance, politics, policy and issues related to the body, is launching a new periodic performance series this October 18. Bridge, a registered Illinois 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization, has hosted a variety of Movement Matters programming now for seven years, including artist's roundtables, symposia and panels, but this will be our first performance series.

The new Movement Matters Performance Series will premiere as the centerpiece performance at the Bridge Journal Release Party, taking place at the Guild Row Social Club.

Curated by artist, writer and Bridge Journal Editor-in-Chief Michael Workman and Movement Matters Committee member and artist Juliann Wang

Dance and performance artists are invited to apply by sending a headshot or performance photograph to michael.workman1@gmail.com with the subject line "Movement Matters Performance application," and please also include a short, 250-word bio, and a short 300-word (max) statement on the piece you would like to perform, as well as 2-3 links to video documentation of past performances.

We are particularly interested in work that has been in development for some time and can be presented in under 10 minutes (allotting for an hour-long program) or that can take place "environmentally" in the space of the Guild Row facility. (Please note: environmental projects will take place throughout the facility, whereas the main performance program will take place in front of the seating risers in Guild Row's Belmont Room).

ALL performances will be documented on video, and the resulting footage shared with all participants and archived on the Movement Matters page. In addition, donations will be solicited upon admission (which is free), and divided among the participants.

Thank you for your interest -- we look forward to reviewing your work!
