Submissions via Submittable only.
We invite artists to submit their best works in any medium, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, etc. (with the exception of video and projection-based work). This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your talent, reach a new audience, and connect with fellow artists.
To be eligible for the exhibition, all artworks must be original, completed within the past three years, and not previously exhibited at OPAL and ready to hang.
Juror: Marlon Tobias, Artist-Educator
Marlon Tobias, will select the entries for this exhibition and present awards at the opening reception. Marlon received his MFA from the University of South Florida (USF) and has taught drawing at New College of Florida in Sarasota, FL and drawing and digital Illustration at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL. Marlon also served as Exhibition Coordinator at Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative and as Program Coordinator for Diversity in Arts Summer Internship in Sarasota/Manatee, FL.
Submissions (online) will be accepted online starting MAR 30, 2023, through MAY 1, 2023.
The submission fee is $55 (non-refundable), and artists may submit up to three artworks.
Selected artists will be notified via email by
MAY 5 and artwork must received by the deadline of MAY 15 (drop-off at the Gallery is preferred (we have very little shipping/receiving capacity)!
Recognition Awards for Exhibition:
1st place - $300
2nd place - $200
3rd place - $100
● This is a Juried Call utilizing the Submittable platform.
● The artwork you submit will be included if it meets the Call criteria.
● Deliver your accepted work on the drop-off dates below. All media/mediums accepted (except for video for this exhibition).
● ARTWORK IS LIMITED IN SIZE TO (42”) IN THE LARGEST DIMENSION (including frame).
● Sculpture work (freestanding) can be up to 72” high but must be no more than 36” wide in the round.
● Limit of 3 submissions per artist.
● All accepted work MUST be ready to hang!!! (ABSOLUTELY NO SAWTOOTH OR STRING HANGERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!)
* OPAL reserves the right to reject any accepted work that does not clearly represent or match the submission.
* Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
* Submission fees are non-refundable.
* All shipped artwork received MUST include a prepaid shipping label for return of the work. OPAL will not ship work without this prepaid label.

Notification of Accepted Work: MAY 5
Drop-off accepted work: MAY 11 (1-5pm), 12 (1-5pm), 13 (1-4pm), 15 (1-5pm)
Exhibition dates: MAY 18 - JUN 16
Opening reception: Friday, MAY 19, 6:30pm - 9pm
Pick up work: JUN 16 (1-5pm), 17 (1-4pm), 19 (1-5pm), 20 (1-5pm)
