Holy Inappropriate
Performing Artist Call for an original play.
The Elgin Group is proud to announce "Holy Inappropriate," a new stage play coming to the Elgin Fringe Festival in 2022. Created by local artist Allison Fradkin, this show explores themes of radical feminism and ultra-conservative purity culture through comedy/satire.
SYNOPSIS:
Here's the story of a lovely lady who is bringing up three very lovely girls…in the Christian Patriarchy Movement. All of them have been controlled, like their mother, by their heavenly father. Mother's little helpers know very well that their mission in life is submission, and that womanhood is synonymous with motherhood. Now that all three are officially members of the premarital sex, it's time for Mom to teach them about the birds and the believers. But what happens when she discovers that the disciples at her disposal are neither disposable nor... dispassionate?
GOALS:
- To portray the characters with respect, empathy, and sincerity
- Communicate female empowerment
- Incorporate the unique experiences, perspectives, and skills of the production team
We are looking for 4 female-identifying performing artists to bring these characters to life. Actors of all ethnicites are encouraged to audition. Familiarity with the themes of the play is a bonus but not a requirement.
Also seeking an Assistant Director/Stage Manager.
