Hand-To-Hand: Call For Artists
L O S T is an alternative exhibition space based in Chicago, IL. The gallery is co-run by artists Sadie Swenson and Richard Medina, and takes the form of a large white wall in their shared living space. L O S T is currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we will be remotely hosting an exhibition of mail art which will be on display this summer.

For a special summer show of 2020, L O S T will be holding an open call with the theme of mail art. Mail art is work of any scale sent through the postal service. For this exhibition, we are asking for an application fee of $10.00. Half of all proceeds from application fees will be used to purchase stamps from the United States Post Office and half will be donated to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund.
We accept all mediums, as long as the piece is mountable on the wall. Dimensions of the piece should not exceed 24” x 24” (this is somewhat flexible). The work must be mailed to the gallery through USPS. In light of social distancing and current lockdown orders, we will replace a usual opening event with a printed booklet that will be mailed out to participants using the stamps we buy. Once you apply and pay the application fee we will send you confirmation that we’ve received your submission. We will also send you additional information such as where to mail your artwork and return envelopes.
Deadline for submissions is June 30. We will notify artists that they have been accepted by early July.
Please fill out the application here: https://forms.gle/TRfLPpcxhSRUX3JD7 and pay the application fee here: paypal.me/handtohandfee. Note: your submission will not be considered complete until you pay the application fee.
Hand-To-Hand will open on July 15.
