Food & Future call for art!
The 18th annual Chicago Food Justice Summit is looking for artworks of any media by any artist relating to food or food systems. The theme of this year's summit will be Future Proofing the Food System. More detailed information about the theme here.
The summit will empower attendees to share meaningful knowledge, build deep relationships, and join in powerful conversations to envision our food future together. Each day will highlight ways to ground policy in community action and engage participants in how we can use our histories and current challenges as bricks to build a better food system for all Chicagoland.
There will be an online exhibition for the virtual portion of the Summit and a pop-up exhibition at UIC on Friday, February 10 (potentially the 8th or 9th too). A small stipend will be awarded to accepted artists and information about the artist and how to purchase will be given to Summit attendees.
Additionally we are developing a zine in advance of the summit, please let us know if you'd like to be a part of that too!
Only one piece per artist can be awarded. Preference given to 2D pieces within the size parameters 3.5’x3.5’. 3D pieces, reliefs, and other types (installations, multiples, etc) may be submitted for consideration.
Submissions must be received by Monday, January 16, 2023 at midnight - late submissions will not be accepted. Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email.
Acceptee’s will be expected to do local pick-up and drop-off for their pieces on a TBD date before the Summit. We can ship your work back if prepaid information and materials are included when it’s shipped to us.
