Craftivism: The Art of Action

Exhibition Description: Craftivism is an art-form that fuses art, craft, and action. Open to women-identified and non-binary artists from the local, national, and international community, Woman Made Gallery is inviting artwork in any media that focuses on the message to engage the broader community with the intend to effect change. 

All entries should include a brief theme-related statement (max. 200 words.) Accepted artworks must not exceed 72" horizontally and must not have been previously shown at WMG. The application fee for our juried exhibitions is $30 for up to three images of work, plus one detail image if necessary. A limited number of artists who experience financial hardship may be exempt from paying the entry fee; please send us an email to request a fee waiver: general@womanmade.org. 

Please note: Woman Made Gallery is offering a modified and flexible exhibition platform to all accepted artists. With many changes in social engagement since the Covid-19 breakout in March and in accordance with citywide reopening guidelines, the exhibition planning and preparation will be focused on the safety of the participating artists as well as the gallery members. 

Juror/Curator: Shannon Downey better known as Badass Cross Stitch, is a community organizer disguised as a fiber artist and craftivist. She blends her politics, activism, and art into projects that are designed to inspire others to take action, think, discuss, engage with democracy and their community, and find some digital/analog balance. http://www.badasscrossstitch.com/
