Connect International Residency At Hairpin Arts Center

Artists will display artwork created during the residency at Hairpin Arts Center on Chicago's northside. The show will be an international show between Chicago artists and international artists. The artists will be curated by Hollie Davis the founder of the Connect Residency. This would be a program that would meet 4 weeks meeting once a week on Sundays for two and a half hours via Google meet. The goal of the residency is to connect artists to each other in multiple countries and speak with art professionals in the U.S. to allow these artists access to an international network of art professionals both emerging, mid career, and experienced artists. How would this work? Hollie has already founded and facilitated the very successful Connect Residency which has Participants from Chicago and international participants. The participants meet weekly over Google meet and have a structured meeting emphasizing skills, marketing, community and networking. For example Hollie incorporates a “skill 15” a fifteen minute presentation on skills artists find useful. For example there have been presentations on proposal writing and speaking about your art. The second hour Hollie interviews two guests each guest speaking for 30 minutes. The 30 minutes are broken down into a fifteen minute interview with Hollie and fifteen minute Q&A with participants. Previous guest speakers include curators from NYC, gallery owners, and an Emmy award winning director.
