Comfort Station is now taking applications for exhibitions for our 2024 season!
Deadline for applications is set for
October 7th, 2023 at 11:59 pm. There is no application fee & it is open to artists based in the Chicago area only. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel including Comfort Station staff and invited artists and curators.
In an effort to maintain the accessibility of our open call, we’re holding a series of events that aim to demystify the process of exhibition applications at large. During the month of September, we will be holding a workshop for putting together successful exhibition proposal materials, as well as 10-12 sign up slots for individual portfolio reviews, meant for applicants with little to no experience crafting applications for exhibition.
Through our selection process, we aim to curate an exhibition season that reflects a diverse range of practices, exhibiting work that utilizes the space and context of our public building. Comfort Station operates with core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, therefore we are committed to providing a platform for BIPOC artists, women, LGBTQ+, trans/gender non-conforming, and disabled artists. We also strive to put these values into action by ensuring that this public call for exhibitions reaches as wide an audience as possible through targeted outreach and communications.
