Call for Films - Short Stack Film Festival 2023
Short Stack: Chicago’s Tiny Dance Film Festival is a celebration of bite-sized dance films that exist at the intersection of experimental artmaking and concise storytelling.
Short Stack is open to any movement-based films that have a run time of five minutes or less. We're delighted to continue partnering with Color Club in Irving Park, a creative hub with a rich history of culture and community, where the second iteration of this festival will take place October 12-13, 2023.
All film submissions must meet the following guidelines:
• Films must have a run time of 5 minutes or less, with dance and/or movement as the central focus.• Films should have a resolution of 1080p or higher.• Films that contain any speaking or text must include subtitles.• Submissions are due by 11:59PM on THURSDAY, AUGUST 31ST.
• There is no limit on the number of submissions or production date. There is a submission fee of $15 per film submitted. Submission fee must be paid at time of submission. • All submissions will be reviewed by a small panel of local dance and film artists. Films will be reviewed based on the following criteria: overall video quality, meeting the requirements, compelling use of movement/sound/editing, original concept, calls to action, use of storytelling. Submissions from Cook County artists will be prioritized.
Short Stack: Chicago’s Tiny Dance Festival is hosted by Project Bound Dance. Please email us at shortstackfilmfest@gmail.com if you have a specific question about criteria or your film's eligibility. Short Stack reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not meet the requirements outlined.
