Call for ARTISTS WHO ARE PARENTS (or PARENTAL FIGURES)
SOUTHSPACE is a new space in Hyde Park, Chicago, started by an artist and a social worker who are foster parents. Our walls are currently empty and we would like to fix that.
We are seeking ARTISTS WHO ARE PARENTS or PARENTAL FIGURES to display their work for our first month of being open. All types and mediums of artwork submissions will be considered, including 2D, 3D, sound, video, etc.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Please submit 1-5 images of artworks with a list that includes, for each image, TITLE, MEDIUM, SIZE IN INCHES, DATE COMPLETED, SALES PRICE (or Not For Sale). In addition, please provide a brief statement or bio (2-5 sentences total).
SUBMISSION FORM: Submissions will only be accepted via this Google Form: FORM LINK or via email to email@example.com only if the form doesn't work for you. No in-person submissions.
DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: Midnight on August 9th
EXHIBITION DATES: August 18th - September 15th. Accepted work received prior to August 10th may be displayed earlier, as soon as received.
EXHIBITION TERMS: Gallery will take only 15% on all sales for our parent-artists. The sales price is determined by the artist.
DROP-OFF, PICK-UP, AND SHIPPING: Artists can drop off themselves or pay for shipping or delivery. Artworks must be able to arrive by no later than August 18th. Artwork must be picked up between September 15th - 16th or a storage fee will be applied. Unclaimed artwork will not be guaranteed to be stored, especially if artists are not able to be contacted or are not compliant.
IMAGE USE/COPYRIGHTS: Artists retain all copyrights to submitted images and represented artwork. By entering the exhibition show, artists selected to exhibit grant SOUTHSPACE rights to use the selected image(s) on printed materials, social media, and website for promotional purposes only. SOUTHSPACE retains no copyrights to artist works.
SOUTHSPACE is an art and technology creative learning and exhibition space. Our goal is to provide art and technology experiential learning for youth and young adults, exhibition space for artists and groups of artists, and other helpful resources for our community. SOUTHSPACE focuses on exhibiting youth artists, art students, art educators, and emerging artists.
