Call for Art: Mindscapes
We are thrilled to announce the "Mindscapes: Artistic Journeys Through Mental Health" exhibition, a powerful exploration of the human experience in relation to mental disabilities or illnesses. This exhibition aims to create a platform for artists to express their unique perspectives and convey the complexities of the mental health journey. We invite artists from all backgrounds to submit their compelling artworks and contribute to this profound dialogue.
Submission Guidelines:
- Eligibility: This call for artists is open to all artists, regardless of age, gender, or nationality.
- Artwork Theme: Submissions should focus on the exploration of mental health journeys, specifically the challenges faced by individuals with mental disabilities or illnesses. Artists are encouraged to portray their own experiences or provide insights into the experiences of others.
- Mediums: We welcome a wide range of mediums, including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, mixed media, and installation art.
- Originality: All artworks must be original and created by the submitting artist.
- Submission Format:
- Each artist may submit up to three artworks for consideration.
- Please provide high-resolution images of your artworks (JPEG or PNG format).
- Include a brief artist statement (maximum 300 words) that explains the connection between your artwork and the mental health theme.
- Mention the medium, dimensions, and title of each artwork in your submission.
- If your artwork requires special installation instructions, please include them in your submission.
- Submission Process: Create a profile on hazroom.com. Submit your artwork by May 15th, 2023 via the link. Late submissions will not be considered.
- Notification: Selected artists will be notified of their acceptance by May 20th, 2023.
Exhibition Details:
- Opening Reception: May 26th, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
- Duration: The exhibition will be on display until June 16th, 2023.
- Location: HAZ Artist Cooperative Studios, 1706 S Halsted St.
Important Notes:
- Artworks will be selected based on artistic merit, relevance to the theme, and the ability to contribute to a meaningful dialogue on mental health.
- Selected artists will be responsible for delivering their artworks to the exhibition venue by May 23rd, 2023.
- All selected artworks must be ready for installation (framed or appropriately presented) when delivered.
- The exhibition organizers reserve the right to reproduce images of the selected artworks for promotional purposes.
- Artists are encouraged to attend the opening reception, but it is not mandatory.
