Value: Assigned, Transposed and Imagined

A three-person exhibition by HATCH Projects Residents
Chaz Evans, Amber Ginsburg, and Hoyun Son
Curated by HATCH Curatorial Residents Happy Collaborationists (Anna Trier and Meredith Weber)

Opening Reception: February 15, 6 – 9 pm
Exhibition Dates: February 15 – March 7, 2013

HATCH Residents Chaz Evans, Amber Ginsburg and Hoyun Son engage in the creation and preservation of object-based histories through the juxtaposition of old and new technologies, the re-appropriation of daily ritual, and the construction of maps. Exploring the assigned and imagined functions of daily objects the artists transpose their value as they circulate in and out of an art context.

With this inaugural exhibition presented through Chicago Artists’ Coalition’s new Curatorial Residency program, HATCH Projects continues to foster shared experimentation, exchange and creativity to produce exhibitions and programs in support of an ecology of curatorial and artistic practice.  In Value: Assigned, Transposed and Imagined, each of these artists challenge the ephemeral nature of the object, opening the process of appraisal in dialogue with their fellow artists and audience.

Evans received an MA in Art History and a MFA in New Media Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently Part-time Assistant Professor in New Media and Digital Art at DePauw University.
