COALITION GALLERY
The Chicago Artists Coalition is pleased to request applications for the second annual CAC Coalition Gallery
Collaborative by design, entrepreneurial in spirit, CAC Coalition Gallery is a unique opportunity for Chicago artists to empower their careers by teaching them to run all aspects of a professional gallery while enjoying substantial support from CAC and a group of professional curators who will be invited to participate. The 1100 square foot gallery is located in the heart of Wicker Park.
This program is highly competitive. Twenty artists will be selected and only those artists will exhibit in the gallery for one year. Involvement in the cooperative Coalition Gallery requires a year-long time and financial commitment and provides resume-boosting experience in all aspects of gallery operations. The Coalition Gallery Artists are responsible for gallery sitting, exhibition preparations, gallery marketing (with CAC assistance) and maintaining a clean, presentable gallery space. Dues are $65 monthly, which covers rent and utilities for the gallery space.
Time Line:
June 30: Applications Are DUE
July 9: First Round of Finalists Are Notified
July 13: Interviews
July 30: CAC Coalition Gallery Artists 2010-11 Announced
September 1: Artists begin their tenure (Through August 31, 2011)
First Round Finalists will be invited to attend a social gathering to meet current artists and mingle with CAC staff and Board of Directors.
Application for CAC Coalition Gallery:
- Artist Resume (With ALL Contact Information)
- Artist Statement (500 word maximum)
- 10 images sent as an attachment in email (low resolution JPG, PDF or ZIP files only – NO CD’S) (Include size, medium and title)
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Personal statement that explains what artist hopes to gain from their participation in the CAC Coalition Gallery over the course of the following year.

The Coalition Gallery is the cooperative gallery of the Chicago Artists’ Coalition located in the heart of Wicker Park Artists’ community. The gallery represents 20 member artists who were juried into the gallery for a one-year period. Curator Susan Aurinko has put together a series of visually provocative exhibitions showcasing the exceptional talent and diversity of the artists.
Specialties: Painting, photography, multimedia, sculpture, and installation.
