2010 marks the Chicago Artists’ Coalition 35th year as the premier support organization for Chicago’s visual arts community. From helping to establish Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs to advocating for the Percent for Art Bill to hosting the city’s only true Art Open, which gives more than 300 artists the chance to be seen in a professionally curated show, CAC has been at the forefront of positioning Chicago as a world-class cultural hub. CAC’s mission remains to educate the public regarding the value of visual art, to be an advocate for arts issues, to provide professional and educational services, and to improve the environment in which artists live and work.

CAC is a community organization. Our aim is to empower not only artists but also the community that supports and is enriched by them. Your contribution to CAC helps both sustain and strengthen essential programming for professional artists and helps bring art to life in our diverse communities. Donations like yours helped CAC realize our most exciting accomplishments in 2009, including:

• The launch of the CAC Coalition Gallery
• The opening of six new artist work spaces
• The expansion of programs such as CAC Around Town, which exhibits original art work in alternative venues throughout the city; Professional Development Workshops, which cover fundamental topics such as financial planning and contracts; Critique Salons, which offer artists invaluable feedback on their work and projects; and Artist to Watch, which gives prominence to under-served and minority artist populations
• A new look and improved content for Chicago Artists’ News, CAC’s monthly newspaper, which is the only publication of its kind in the Midwest.
• The reformatting and launch of the new and improved CAC web site, www.chicagoartistscoalition.com, featuring over 900 artist galleries regularly viewed by curators and collectors.
